Guarded

One day you decided to build a wall.

The wall was so grand, big and tall. When asked why, ” it’s for protection ” you’d say. But it only turned the us into they. You’ve built a “safe” world behind that wall, all tidy and quaint. But the lively world on the other side has begun to grow faint. It’s a beautiful world, indeed. But it’s beauty you do not heed. All nestled away safe in a snug closed off space. You would rather hide than see my face. If you’d drill a hole, even one. You would see the love on the other side isn’t done. There are many miles between us you see,But you’re only one step away from me.
